Rhino River Lodge is a small and intimate lodge situated on the shore of the Msunduzi River, in the Southern section of the Zululand Rhino Reserve in KZN. Surrounded by 23,000 hectares of private game reserve, this private game lodge offers you an intimate and comfortable safari experience, with excellent game viewing and luxury accommodation. Located in the very heart of Zululand, just 30km north of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, the reserve is home to the Big 5 and the area is renowned for its African wildlife, rich cultural heritage and breath-taking landscapes.

Rhino River Lodge offers three types of accommodation and hosts a maximum of 24 guests at any given time, making for an intimate small lodge experience focusing on personalized customer service. Accommodation is in your choice of a two-bedroom one-bathroom family chalet complete with private lounge and boma areas, a double en-suite luxury room each with a private verandah, or two different two-bedroom private homes each with private lounge, dining, kitchen, and swimming pools.

In between game drives guests can cool off in the swimming pool or sit in our open air lounge where our staff will be on hand to keep you refreshed with drinks of your choice.

The daily activities consist of two game drives per day through the Zululand Rhino Reserve, where you will be guided by a knowledgeable ranger in one of our open safari vehicles and have the chance to see the Big Five and many other African animals, birds, and wildlife. Each drive takes a break at a picturesque spot, for coffee and tea in the morning and sundowners in the afternoon. For the more adventurous souls, there is the optional extra of going on a guided bush trail. These trails are one of the best ways to experience the African bush, up close and personal, and many of our guests rate it as a highlight of their African experience.

All meals are included in the nightly rate. Enjoy hearty South African dishes highlighting local ingredients and specialities, served under the stars around a campfire. Join us in experiencing South Africa at its best, amongst untamed nature and warm hospitality. We look forward to welcoming you, whether you are a South African seeking a much needed bush escape or a traveller from far away on an exciting adventure exploring South Africa and all she has to offer.
