What happens when seven, imaginative “dwarves” head to the berg?

Will they find Snow White or will they entertain us with tales of adventure and destination delights? Carmen Barends (Meanderings) is a travel muse who explores the road less travelled. This coming weekend, she has rounded up a creative crew:  Verushka (Spice Goddess), Nicole (Run on Coffee), Inge (Snap, Sizzle and Cook), Megan (Stuffed Feeling), Ceece (Ceece’s Travel) and Kirsten (Kirsten Hughes Photography) to explore the berg with the unique Antbear Lodge and Zingela Safari and River Lodge (where cell reception is sporadic).

Their journey begins on Friday as they explore the road between Estcourt and Mooi River, in the vicinity of Giants Castle in the Central Drakensberg.

Dinner at Antbear Lodge will no doubt be a warm country affair as they decide which activity is deemed suitable for the chilly forecasted Saturday morning (horse riding/microlighting/hiking).

The unique architecture with thatched roof of Antbear Lodge stirs mythical or fairy-type thoughts that perhaps they may indeed find Snow White…

But, before we have time to ponder fairy tales, the intrepid crew will head on to the Colenso Club where their weekend venture bodes to bear a more daring twist. They will be collected by Zingela Safari and River Lodge, in 4x4’s, and escorted far into the Weenan district where the Tugela Canyon is ideally situated to provide a choice of fly fishing, rafting and abseiling. It is here where the tweets may be interrupted but not for long as they are chaperoned back to Colenso on Sunday.

#ThisIsKZN is looking forward to the tales, escapades and general reflection that these two remote, but carefully crafted establishments have generously shared with this committed creative crew. Let the tales begin!

Make sure to get on board with their tweets and chirps – the digital airwaves are already buzzing with anticipation. Follow their journey at #TraveltheBerg #AntbearLodge #ZingelaSafaris
